As you can see a variety of aesthetically pleasing aspects have been used to appeal to the bands target audiences. The most significant factor in my opinion is the colour that has been used in all of them. All use bright colours which either contrast with a black or white background. This suggests to me that in order to catch the target audiences attention it is important to follow this criteria. Obviously the purpose is following the acronym AIDA; attract attention, create interest, leading to desire and then making them act and purchase the product. These magazine promotions/ adverts by doing this through the aesthetics as well as the meaning being personified.
For example, the last image is advertising the band 'Editors' and have used a bright yellow colour contrasting with the black although they blend well. This suggests that the music the editors make are fairly mellow as Indie music is, rather than the genre dubstep. Purpose can also be seen from the information provided which is placed centrally and at the bottom of the advertisement. This should immediately tell the audience that the advert is intended to promote a new album. At the end of the day, the connotations that are being personified for this particular advert is that the band have a brand new album out and is available to buy at the given stores. The magazine advert is fit for its purpose due to it communicating its message appropriately and to the correct target audience, giving the correct message constantly.
